Stable pipeline flow monitoring is critical to consistent process operation for pure water equipment, chemical fluid pipelines and laboratory water circuit supporting systems. Featuring a simple structure and straightforward readings, the LZM series acrylic rotameters are widely adopted monitoring instruments for small and medium flow pipelines. This document compiles the product working principle, technical parameters, model selection criteria and operation specifications.

Ⅰ.Working Principle of Acrylic Rotameter

The LZM series belongs to variable-area rotameters. Its housing is made of highly transparent acrylic, fitted with a tapered tube and float inside. Fluid flows vertically upward through the tapered tube, lifting the float under the combined force of fluid buoyancy and differential pressure. The scale mark on the tube wall aligned with the float indicates the real-time flow rate. Models equipped with regulating valves allow fine adjustment of pipeline medium flow, suitable for applications requiring flow control. Adopting an all-mechanical design, this meter requires no external power supply.

Ⅱ.Basic Product Performance Features

Visual Readout: The transparent tube wall enables direct observation of fluid flow conditions. Scales marked with multiple units including GPM, LPM and Nm³/h are printed on the tube for direct reading under both liquid and gas working conditions.

Stable Environmental Adaptability: Free of electronic components, it is immune to electromagnetic interference and humid surroundings, making it suitable for long-term operation in industrial water purification and general laboratory environments.

Compatible with Conventional Water Treatment Media: Applicable to pipelines carrying normal-temperature clean water and weak acid & alkaline chemicals. Medium temperature range: 0~60℃; maximum working pressure: 1 MPa, matching the operating parameters of most standard water purification equipment.

Multiple Standard Connection Sizes: Two installation types available: tube insertion type and panel mount type. Equipped with four standard external thread connections ZG1/2, ZG3/4, ZG1 and ZG1½, corresponding to four models LZM-15/20/25/40, covering pipelines from small-flow chemical dosing to large-flow water production.

Ⅲ.LZM Model Standard Parameter Comparison Table

LZM-15 (ZG1/2 external thread connection): Liquid measuring range 0.5~28 LPM, gas measuring range 1~40 Nm³/h; overall length 216 mm. Widely used for small pure water equipment and low-flow chemical dosing pipelines in laboratories.

LZM-20 (ZG3/4 external thread connection): Liquid measuring range 8~80 LPM, gas measuring range 2.6~160 Nm³/h; overall length 233 mm. Mainly applied to monitor produced water and concentrated water of medium & small reverse osmosis systems.

LZM-25 (ZG1 external thread connection): Liquid measuring range 6~170 LPM, gas measuring range 20~250 Nm³/h; overall length 253 mm. Suitable for large industrial pure water and circulating water systems.

LZM-40 (ZG1½ external thread connection): Liquid measuring range 40~300 LPM, no measuring range for gas; overall length 265 mm. Designed for high-flow water supply and ultrafiltration produced water pipelines.

Unified Technical Standards: Measuring accuracy ±4% FS; standard mounting hole spacing 100 mm. No new holes required for equipment renovation and replacement.

Ⅳ.General Application Scenarios

Reverse Osmosis Pure Water Units: Monitor flow of pretreatment, product water and concentrated water pipelines to assist in judging the operating condition of membrane elements.

Wastewater Dosing Systems: Track flow on chemical pipelines to stabilize chemical dosing ratios.

Laboratory & Small Ultrapure Water Instruments: Measure flow in low-flow circulating water circuits.

Food & General Industrial Clean Water Pipelines: Measure flow of clean water, mildly corrosive chemicals and compressed air.

Aquaculture Circulation Filtration Systems: Real-time observation of water circulation flow.

Ⅴ.Installation & Usage Guidelines

Installation Method: The meter shall be installed perfectly vertical with fluid flowing upward (inlet at bottom, outlet at top). Inclined installation will cause reading errors.

Medium Requirements: Only applicable for single-phase clean water and gas without severe flow pulsation. If solid impurities exist in the medium, install a filter upstream of the meter to prevent float jamming.

Operating Limits: Medium temperature and system pressure shall not exceed the rated range of 0~60℃ and 1 MPa. Metal tube rotameters are recommended for high-temperature and high-pressure working conditions.

Routine Maintenance: Regularly clean scale and impurities on the tube wall to keep the scale legible. Drain residual water inside pipelines during long-term shutdown to slow down whitening and aging of the housing.

Ⅵ.Simplified Model Selection Reference

Small water purifiers & micro-dosing pipelines → LZM-15

1–2 ton standard reverse osmosis equipment → LZM-20

3–5 ton industrial pure water units → LZM-25

5 ton and above high-flow water production & circulation pipelines → LZM-40

Stable flow monitoring is the foundation for the smooth operation of water treatment systems. The LZM series acrylic rotameters feature complete specifications and easy installation, compatible with most standard supporting requirements of water purification equipment.
